The platform supports both real-time remote operation and fully autonomous execution of pre-programmed mission profiles. Operational Capabilities

  • Covert ISR: Conducts stealth surveillance, intelligence gathering, and data collection in denied or shallow waters (littoral warfare)
  • Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW): Serves as a forward-deployed sensor node or an acoustic decoy to disrupt and counter conventional submarines.

  • GPS-Denied Navigation: Features an advanced Inertial Navigation System (INS) paired with a Doppler Velocity Log (DVL) for highly precise underwater positioning without satellite reliance.

SHADOWFIN ENHANCED

The ambition for SHADOWFIN ENHANCED is for the AUV to be able to carry torpedoes like the MU90. It addresses the heightened maritime threat environment by serving as a flexible, cost-effective, and scalable platform for engaging hostile submarines and other targets such as underwater drones, infrastructure, and frigates. The target users are Ukraine, the Royal Danish Navy, and NATO allies, all of whom face challenges in protecting their maritime interests—especially from submarines. Shadowfin increases flexibility in anti-submarine warfare and reduces the need for expensive manned vessels. It offers rapid deployment and requires minimal maintenance, resulting in significant cost savings.

Shadowfin differentiates itself from existing solutions by being an autonomous AUV that is a purpose-built to engage submarines by carrying and firing the torpedoes. This unique capability is combined with advanced communications technology typically found on surface vessels, ensuring continuous position updates even over long distances. With a low radar and sonar profile and a long range, it can "invisibly" approach hostile targets. It is more adaptable and cost-effective than manned alternatives.
